Dr Ahmed Kamal wins Ranbaxy Research Award

A leading scientist from the Hyderabad-based Indian Institute of Chemical Technology (IICT) Dr Ahmed Kamal has been awarded the Ranbaxy Research Award for the year 2005 by Ranbaxy Science Foundation.

The award has been given in recognition of his original scientific contribution in the field of 'Medicinal and Pharmaceutical Sciences'.

Dr Ahmed's research work is multifaceted and excels in pharmaceutical chemistry. He has to his credit 170 scientific publications and 40 patents.

IICT has licensed five US patents of Dr Ahmed with respect to pharmaceuticals, drug discovery and drug development of new chemical entities to Indus Pharmaceuticals, USA for a contract value of $4,50,000 plus royalty.
