Dr L H Hiranandani Hospital launches Dual Source CT scan machine in Mumbai
Padmabhusan Dr L H Hiranandani, chairman of Dr L H Hiranandani Hospital, Mumbai inaugurated the 128 Slice Dual Source CT scan. This centre has been set up in collaboration with SRL Diagnostics Pvt. Ltd (formerly known as Piramal Diagnostic Services Pvt. Ltd.).
The unique advantage of the technology is to scan a patient with irregular heartbeats. With Dual Source CT, cardiac imaging is twice as fast as the fastest single source CT. The machine can perform reliable cardiac imaging at any heart rate, but also without the need of beta-blockers (medicines administered to lower the heart rate).
Dr Sujit Chatterjee, CEO, Dr L H Hiranandani Hospital said, “At the hospital, we ensure that each patient receives compassionate care through our expertise of an experienced healthcare team. We are among the few hospitals in India to invest on superior and sophisticated technology to provide excellent and most advanced treatment for our patients.”
“All the images are in 3D format giving a detailed view of the anatomy of the heart and its vessels which helps in deciding whether the cardiac patient would require medical or surgical management,” commented Dr Ganesh Kumar, senior consultant Interventional Cardiologist at Dr L H Hiranandani Hospital.
The machine has a very high accuracy in stent imaging and by-pass graft cases. The acquisition can be made within very short breath hold of 5 seconds only.
Dr Natasha Nanda, Centre Head, SRL Diagnostics added, “This machine’s precision level is more than 95 per cent as compared to prior technologies and is a non-invasive technique for diagnosis and detection.”
To capture finer details of the heart, which is a rapidly moving organ, two tubes are used to provide clear and blur free images of the heart. In addition to coronary studies, angiography of all organs and vessels can be achieved in short time span. Routine brain and body scans are also acquired rapidly and faster than other scanners. This machine is accessible to all the patients up to 220kgs.
