Dr. Rubin joins scientific advisory board of Molecular Connections
Dr. Eitan Rubin has joined the Scientific Advisory Board (SAB) of Bangalore based Molecular Connections, a "new-biology" research and discovery services company. Dr. Rubin, who is among the leading experts in the field of bio-informatics and biology research, will add significant value in Molecular Connections' insilico discovery services and products initiative, stated a company release.
Commenting on the development, Dr Limsoon Wong, chairman of the SAB said that Dr. Rubin's entry is testimony to the strong technology and scientific foundation of Molecular Connections. Dr. Wong is also the Deputy Director of the laboratories for Information Technology, Singapore (previously known as Kent Ridge Digital Labs) and an Adjunct Associate Professor at the National University of Singapore.
Jignesh Bhate, CEO of Idea2solutions and executive director of Molecular Connections felt that an active SAB is integral to the science and technology driven business model of Molecular Connections and hoped Dr Rubin will play an important role in setting and guiding the scientific and technical direction for the company.
Dr. Rubin received his PhD in Biology from the Feinberg Graduate School at the Weizmann Institute of Science. After working in Compugen, a world leading bioinformatics company, Dr. Rubin assumed his current position as the Head of the Bioinformatics and Biological Computing Unit at the Weizmann Institute of Science.
Molecular Connections endeavors to enhance the efficiency of the drug discovery process specifically in target identification, validation and evaluation and is the brain-child of Dr Limsoon Wong. The company is a joint venture between Idea2solutions Private Limited, an incubator promoted by the founders of the Dr Reddy's Laboratories, and Laboratories for Information Technology, a national research institute for advanced technologies in Singapore. Its initial focus is to build state-of-the-art products and provide world-class services to enhance efficiency and reduce the discovery cycle time and resources spent by drug discovery companies at pre and post clinical stages of the drug R & D cycle. Molecular Connections is located in Bangalore and has a business development office in Maryland, USA.
