The Association of Biotechnology Led Enterprises (ABLE) at its executive council meeting held early this month has appointed Dr. S Anand Kumar as Hon. director, and Radhika Choudary as executive director.

Dr. Kumar is the Director of AstraZeneca Research Foundation India. He has served on the Committee for Commercialisation of Biotechnology, UNIDO Vienna, Austria and the Research Advisory Committee of the P.D. Hinduja National Medical Research Institute, India; the Medical Biotechnology Task Force, Government of India and the Indo-US Vaccine Action Programme Apex Committee. Now he is a member of the Patent Screening Committee of the Department of Biotechnology, Government of India.

Radhika Choudary, a lawyer by profession, has been working as consultant, Dept of IT and Biotechnology, Government of Karnataka for past one year, and has organised international conferences including IT.com 2003 and Bangalore Bio 2004.

The appointments are pursuant to Mr. Nitin Deshmukh having relocated to Mumbai, to join Kotak Mahindra Bank as Head, Private Equity. However, Nitin Deshmukh continues with ABLE as director.
