Dr Saranjit Singh, professor and head of the Department of Pharmaceutical Analysis, has been appointed as the dean of National Institute of Pharmaceutical Education and Research (NIPER), Mohali. He is succeeding Professor K.K. Bhutani who completed his second term of three years on Wednesday.
Dr. Singh, a well recognized International expert in the areas of drug stability testing, expiry dating and impurity profiling of pharmaceuticals, assumed charge on Thursday. He is a member of Expert Advisory Panel on the International Pharmacopoeia and Pharmaceutical Preparations, World Health Organization, Geneva. He is also a member of the Scientific Committee of the Indian Pharmacopoeia Commission. He is a leader of the stability testing and impurity profiling facility at NIPER, which is involved in collaborative projects with industry and supply of impurity and degradation product standards.
Dr Singh has delivered more than 230 invited lectures in India and abroad. He has published 130 research papers, general articles and book chapters. He is a recipient of University Gold Medal from Panjab University, Chandigarh; Professor M.L. Khorana Memorial Lecture Award from Indian Pharmaceutical Association; and Outstanding Analyst Award from Indian Drug Manufacturers Association, release said.
