Dr V K Subburaju to inaugurate Pharmac South 2015 in Chennai on July 3
Pharmac South 2015, the second edition of the south Indian trade show of innovative pharmaceutical products and company profiles for good-quality enquiries, will be held from July 3 to 4 this year at Chennai Trade Centre. The event will be inaugurated by Dr V K Subburaju, secretary, Department of Pharmaceuticals (DoP).
The event is organized by the Tamil Nadu branch of the Indian Drugs Manufacturers Association (IDMA). IDMA president SV Veeramani, M Rajaratinam, chairman, Tamil Nadu IDMA, Dr P.V. Appaji, director general of Pharmaceuticals Export Promotion Council of India (Pharmexcil), S Abdul Khader, state drugs control director, Dr S Manivannan, deputy drugs controller, CDSCO and SPVV Sivanandan, convener of the programme will speak on the occasion.
Pharmac South is the largest pharma trade show and conference in south India. It will showcase good quality pharmaceutical and neutraceutical wares and services of the local companies from six south Indian states to attract buyers from all over the country. This year the show will exhibit wares and product profiles of more than 100 companies of different capacities.
Except for a marketing tool, the pharma exhibition will provide opportunities for face-to-face interactions by buyers and sellers of pharma and allied products. Six panel discussions will also be held in the two-day programme.
“We are excited to hold the second edition of the event this year as we received very encouraging response last year. The first edition last year gathered together more than 3000 visitors ranging from small scale to big players from across the country. More than 250 brand managers of big pharmaceutical companies visited the event. The visitors included manufacturers of pharmaceuticals, neutraceuticals, dietary supplements, ayurvedic and herbal products, and functional foods. This year, we look forward to meeting visitors from big pharma players including MNCs. Buyer-seller meeting will be arranged for negotiating new contracts”, said M Rajaratinam, chairman of Tamil Nadu branch of the IDMA.
SPVV Sivanandan, convener of this year’s program, said the Pharmac South 2015 is aimed to showcase south Indian pharmaceutical industry’s capabilities as a fast growing manufacturing hub for contract manufacturing for all kinds of pharmaceutical products, neutraceuticals, veterinary drugs, herbal products and Indian system of medicines. This year, the event is expected to attract about 4000 visitors from all the states in India and from neighboring countries.
We are targeting exhibitors from Telengana, Andhra Pradesh, Orissa, Tamil Nadu, Pondicherry, Karnataka and Kerala. Eighty five percent of the total stall space has been booked already. Participation of companies from Telengana and Karnataka is very much encouraging this year. The event will provide the exhibitors a single window system to expand their business activities and exports, he added.
Pharmac South event will be aligned with the opening of the south zonal office of Pharmexcil in Chennai. Pharmexcil will help the exhibitors to learn about the regulatory requirements of other countries and how files and samples should be submitted.
