The Indian Association of Gynaecological Endoscopists (IAGE) and the Naval Hospital INHS Sanjivani are jointly organising a congress and workshop in the city from May 1 to 4, 2003. The congress will be held at the Galfar Convention Centre from May 1 to 3 whereas the workshop will be conducted at the Naval Hospital Sanjivani on May 4. Renowned endoscopic surgeons from across the globe are scheduled to participate in the programme.
Considering the rapid advances being made in the field of endoscopy, popularly called key-hole surgery, the congress and workshop will provide and opportunity to the gynecologists to see and interact with surgeons acknowledged world over as authorities in their fields. Ten foreign faculties from USA, Germany, Italy, Singapore, South Africa, Taiwan and Iran are expected to take part in the programme.
Various advanced endoscopic procedures will be demonstrated at the workshop and surgery for advanced endometriosis, a problem often seen in Kerala, will also be presented.
Vice-Admiral Madanjit Singh, Flag Officer Commanding-in-Chief, Southern Naval Command, and Major General Punita Arora, Additional Director General of Armed Forces, Medical Service, will inaugurate the congress. The workshop will be inaugurated by Vice-Admiral S P Malhotra, Director General of Medical Services.
