Fortis Hospitals, Mulund recognised with national energy conservation award 2012
Fortis Hospitals Mulund, was recently recognised with the national award for energy conservation award 2012 in the hospitals sector. The award that was presented by president of India, Pranab Mukherjee was received by Varun Khanna, the regional director (East & West) of Fortis Healthcare.
On this occasion, Varun Khanna said, the energy conservation award was given after stringent assessment of the energy conservation made by the unit and innovative measures taken in this direction. The unit assessed the energy consumption for the previous year by conducting an in-house energy audit and took action on various areas.
Dr S Narayani, facility director, Fortis Hospitals Mulund informed that the combined efforts and results of the complete audit actually helped in saving the energy and its cost was substantially reduced. From the time the optimisation process started in late August’11, the unit could save as much as 4.78 lakh units in seven months showing a clear saving of 8.20 lakh units for the year. In the same period the bed capacity increased from 210 beds to 235 resulting in an areas increase of about 1500 square metres.
Fortis Hospitals, Mulund has been selected from more than 1,44,000 applications received across the country. The renowned tertiary care multi-specialty hospital at Mulund has been the recipient of many awards for its clinical excellence and is the first hospital to receive JCI re-accreditation for the third time. It is the preferred destination for cardiac, ortho and oncology patients and was recently awarded the FICCI award for Operational excellence.
