Fortis Healthcare recently launched two new hospitals, in Hyderabad and Agra, increasing its network of hospitals in the country to 68. This launch is a part of the Fortis Healthcare's aggressive growth plan in India.

The super-speciality hospital in Hyderabad with a 150-bed capacity will be functional in financial year 2013 and is the second project from the company in the city, first being a tertiary care hospital with a 450-bed capacity, which is expected to be operational end 2013.

The hospital in Agra will initially function as a cardiac care centre, in a hub and spoke model, and expand eventually to become a multi-speciality hospital. The 75-bed hospital will be operational by the end FY2012.

Speaking of expansion plans, Aditya Vij, chief executive officer, Fortis Healthcare, said, “These two new projects are in line with our commitment to increasing the network and making quality healthcare accessible across the country. We are currently present in 17 Indian states and will continue to expand to newer geographies, while strengthening our presence and increasing bed-capacity in existing cities and states.”

Fortis Healthcare is committed to clinical excellence and patient-centric healthcare, which is manifest in hospital design, patient services, medical programmes and the compassionate approach of medical and non-medical hospital staff.

Fortis commissioned its first hospital in 2001 at Mohali, near Chandigarh, and has expanded its operations to become a network with an over 10,000 bed capacity across 68 hospitals. The Fortis network has a large number of international accreditations, including four Joint Commission International (JCI) and 10 National Accreditation Board for Hospitals (NABH) certifications. The network’s capability covers multi-speciality hospitals and super-speciality centres that provide tertiary and quaternary healthcare to patients in the major medical specialities.
