Fortis launches state of the art, multi super-specialty hospital in Ludhiana

Fortis Healthcare, India's largest and fastest growing private healthcare player, has launched its state of art, 260 bedded greenfield hospital in Ludhiana which is spread over 3.5 acres of land. It offers an unprecedented level of medical care and service in the City. Its a significant commitment by Fortis to bridge the gap for quality healthcare services in the region. The multi super-specialty facility caters to all disease profiles but it also has a special focus on those that are endemic to the region and are underserved.

Sukhbir Singh Badal, deputy chief minister, Punjab inaugurated the hospital.

Dedicating the facility to the service of patients, Sukhbir Singh Badal said, “We are happy to see Fortis strenghtening its commitment to Punjab by bringing world class infrastructure and medical care to Ludhiana. We applaud  their efforts and wish them success in taking healthcare to people and in further elevating the quality of healthcare in the region.”

At a separate ceremony, Sukhbir Singh Badal also laid a foundation stone for Fortis La Femme, yet another green field facility that will come up in the city by 2016. Located on the Mall Road, this will be a 100 bed centre for women, dedicated to meet their medical needs through various stages of their life.

Fortis has also committed significant investments in creating capacity of over 1,000 beds in Punjab. These include the newly commissioned hospital in Ludhiana; existing facilities in Mohali and Amritsar; the soon to be launched Fortis Cancer Institute in Mohali and the green-field project, Fortis La Femme in Ludhiana.

Access to healthcare remains a challenge and we are committed to improving the quality of healthcare by expanding our footprint further, in a manner that more and more people continue to benefit from it.”

To address the growing need for specialised and quality medical care to treat cancer, Fortis Ludhiana also set up an advanced Centre of Excellence (COE) in oncology (medical, surgical and radiation therapy). A multi-disciplinary Tumour Board of experienced super-specialists, a dedicated Day Care ward for medical chemotherapy patients, Ludhiana’s only Time-of-Flight PET/ CT scanner and 24x7 Critical Care services for critically ill cancer patients are amongst the unique offerings that set this Centre apart from existing facilities in the region.

Other Centres of Excellence (COE’s) at Fortis Ludhiana include orthopaedics (for bone diseases and joint replacements), emergency, trauma & critical care and cardiology (for heart). Additional COE’s in the near future will include renal sciences (kidney related diseases) and neuro sciences (diseases concerning the brain and nervous system).

The hospital has a team of senior doctors and experienced physicians which offers specialities across internal medicine, laproscopy and general surgery gynaecology & obstetrics, orthopaedics, ENT, ophthalmology, dentistry, physiotherapy & rehabilitation, dermatology and state of the art radiology and pathology.

To handle complex and critical cases, close to 40 per cent of the beds are dedicated to Intensive Care Units (ICUs). With these the hospital will also offer 24x7 Emergency services. Fortis Ludhiana is among the few facilities in Punjab to offer comprehensive cancer treatment. Some of its advanced technologies include; LINAC, MRI, Time - of - Flight PET/ CT, for precision radio surgery, BMD and digital mammography. Specialists use experience - based algorithms to facilitate early diagnosis vital in the containment and treatment of the disease.
