Fougera receives US FDA approval to market generic Desonide lotion

Fougera, a division of Altana Inc., is a leading manufacturer and distributor of a wide range of multi-source topical and ophthalmic pharmaceuticals, in both prescription and over-the-counter dosage forms, reported that it is the first company to receive FDA approval to market generic, prescription drug Desonide lotion 0.05%. This product is AB-rated to DesOwen by Galderma, and is indicated for the relief of corticosteroid-responsive dermatoses. Shipping will begin May 1, 2002.

Fougera received approval previously on the ointment presentation (also AB-rated) and will start production within the next couple of weeks. These presentations are the latest additions to Fougera's growing line of dermatological topicals.

Desonide lotion 0.05% is available in 59 mL (2 fl oz) and 118 mL (4 fl oz) bottles, and Desonide ointment 0.05% will be available in 15 and 60 g tubes.
