Four day Healthex 2010 to begin on July 16 at BIEC in Bangalore

Healthex 2010, a four-day medical global exposition will be held in Bangalore from July 16 to 19, 2010. The event, which is being held for the first time in the country is jointly organized by the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) and Bangalore International Exhibition Services (BIES) at the Bangalore International Exhibition Centre (BIEC) on the Peenya-Tumkur Road.

The international exhibition will display the latest medical & surgical equipments, devices, supplies, allied services-systems, disposables and consumables of manufacturers in India and abroad. Leading participants include Apollo, GE, Philips, 3M, BPL, Zimmer, Johnson & Johnson, Dispoline, Fischer & Packel, Dupont, Tata Motors, Zeal Medicals, SNG Group and Praxair whose range of products will find applications in the hospitals, clinics, and diagnostic centres.

The key objective of the event is to bring together all aspects of the healthcare sector under one roof. The platform is viewed as an opportunity to tap sales orders and for business networking to discuss the technological advances in the space.

Along with the display of technological prowess of medical world, is a conference where experts will deliberate on the latest developments. The topics will cover oncology, role of robotic radio surgery in cancer care delivery, radiology, imaging, surgical technology & techniques, modernization of critical care medicine and ICUs, anaesthesiology, updates on clinical biochemistry among others. There is also ample importance given to the development of ‘Green Hospitals’ a growing requirement of the future.

According to Dr Prathap C Reddy, founder & chairman, Apollo Hospitals Group, chairman, CII National Health Council and chairman, Healthex, this forum would help to strengthen the contacts for healthcare professionals. The medical equipment industry will be able to maximize business opportunities.

The event is in line with the focus of Indian healthcare providers who are advocating the concept of ‘India Stay Healthy, he added. ’

Bangalore and south India were opted as the location for the event because of higher consumption of major medical equipment and presence of recognised healthcare majors. Exhibition will attract doctors, surgeons, hospital administrators, lab technicians, para medical staff and other key decision makers who play vital role in upgrading the infrastructure in hospitals. The seminar will be useful for the medical professionals to enhance their academic knowledge and update themselves on the latest trends in the sector. There will also be a live demonstration of the medical technology, said Dr Reddy.

According to the latest reports in circulation, Indian healthcare sector is valued at $65 billion with ample potential to grow. There is a huge increase in an ageing population in the domestic market. From a global perspective, India is known for its medical expertise providing high quality treatment and affordable costs which has led international patients access hospitals here for advanced care.
