Fourteen research fellows adjudged winners in poster presentations at IPA convention 2010
Fourteen winners have been announced for the Oral and Poster Presentations held along with the IPA Convention 2010 that held in Chennai last month.
The Student researchers from various pharmacy colleges in the country presented their work by presenting posters. In the oral presentation, the participants, one of them was from Iran, had to read their research work aloud to the audience. In both the cases, the student researchers had to answer questions from judges, said Dr T K Ravi, scientific convener of the Seminar.
In Oral Presentation, Hojjat Sadeghi-Aliabadi, from School of Pharmacy & Isfahan Pharmaceutical Research Center, Iran, was adjudged as the best oral presenter. The title of his presentation was ‘Cytotoxic Evaluation of Fe3 O4 Nanoparticles Individually and Co –Administered with Doxorubicin against Human Breast Cancer Cells (MDA-MB-468)’.
The second prize was won by M Gandhimathi of the College of Pharmacy, SRIPMS, Coimbatore.V Rajesh of the Department of Pharmacy Practice, Manipal College of Pharmaceutical Sciences, Manipal has won the third rank.
In the poster presentations, in the section of Pharmacy Education, the first prize has gone to G P Gigi of the Department of Pharmaceutical Chemistry, Madras Medical College, Chennai. The title was ‘Microwave Assisted Synthesis, Characterization and Antimicrobial study’. The second prize was awarded by M Rudrapal of Koringal College of Pharmacy, Korangi, East Godavari.
In Industrial Pharmacy section, the first prize was won by J Bhagyalekshmi of College of Pharmacy, SRIPMS, Coimbatore. The title was ‘Study of Pharmaceutical Evaluation’. The second prize goes to S Gopinath of the college of Pharmacy, Sri Ramachandra University, Porur, Chennai. The title was ‘A Factorial Study on the Evaluation of Formulation Variables on the Dissolution rate of Etoricoxib Tablet’s. Third prize was won by Anjali Pathak., Vel’s College of Pharmacy, Chennai.
In Hospital Pharmacy section, M Rama of the Department of Pharmacy Practice, Manipal College of Pharmaceutical Sciences, Manipal has won the first prize. The title chosen was ‘Drug Utilization Patterns with Renal Failure in Nephrology Unit of Tertiary care hospital’.
Prabhu M. of the Swamy Vivekananda College of Pharmacy, Tiruchengode has achieved the second position on the title ‘Assessment of Plasma Homocysteine’.
In the section of Regulatory Affairs, the first prize was given to K Vinodkumar of the Department of Pharmaceutical Analysis, Adhiparasakthi College of Pharmacy, Melmaruvathur, Tamil Nadu. The title of the presentation was ‘Method of Development for Risedronate sodium Hemi Penta Hydrate by UV Spectroscopic Method and High Performance thin layer Chromatography’.
The second prize was given to M Saravanakumar of College of Pharmacy, SRIPMS, Coimbatore for the title ‘A validation Pair Liquid Chromatographic Method for the Simultaneous Estimation of Ceftriaxone sodium and Tazobactum Sodium from formulation’.
In Community Pharmacy, the title ‘A study to monitor adverse drug reactions of anti-hypertensive drugs’ by Sarang Brahma of Mahatma Gandhi Vidyamndir’s Pharmacy College, Nashik was adjudged as the first one.
The second prize has gone to Nimmy N John of Swamy Vivekananda College of Pharmacy, Tiruchengode in Tamil Nadu for her title “Prevalence of the Thyroid Disorders in coastal, non coastal, midland and hilly areas of Kerala along with the toxicities due to treatment”.
