GITAM University organizes one-day staff interaction programme

GITAM Institute of Pharmacy, GITAM University, Andhra Pradesh, has organized a staff interaction programme as a part of faculty development programme on 1st February, 2011 at its new building.

The meeting was supervised by Prof. G Subrahmanyam, vice chancellor of GITAM University who has emphasized the growth and development of Pharmacy programme at GITAM University and has appreciated untiring efforts of Prof. P Suresh, principal & dean, GITAM Institute of Pharmacy in developing the institution.

Prof. Satish Yashwant Gabhe, C U Shah College of Pharmacy, SNDT University in Mumbai in staff interactive address said “GITAM Institute of Pharmacy stands undoubtedly in the front position at National level with regard to the excellent physical infrastructure and from all other aspects. The world class academic ambience of the University campus was well appreciated.”

While interacting with the faculty, Prof. S Y Gabhe, chairman AIBPE of AICTE stated that all the subjects are equally important at the Under Graduation (UG) level, however, stress on fundamental subjects need to be looked into in the initial years. He appreciated the need to lay more emphasis on the class work of atleast first two years by senior level faculty so as to streamline the academic attitude of the students for future years. He has also under scored the importance of common papers in the first semester of M Pharm programme. The subjects’ specific, market driven subjects pertinent to the relevant specializations need to be incorporated in the 2nd semester. He has appreciated that the UG curriculum at in India is quite satisfactory and is at par with the international standards.

The best practices adopted and the innovative teaching learning techniques which are implemented by GITAM Institute of Pharmacy are well appreciated. He has further appreciated that the Institute has signed on MOU with Japan based Pharmaceutical unit and is planning to start a Pilot Plant, Drug Testing Laboratory, Drug Information Centre and Centre for Pharmaceutical Research in its spacious multi storied building. He has stated that the AIBPE of AICTE is actively involved in designing the curriculum for M Pharm programme. He has observed that the infrastructural facilities, sound faculty with adequate teaching skills are the key parameters to improve the academic interest of the students for the programme.

Prof. T Satyanarayana, former principal, AU College of Pharmacy and Member, AIBPE in his interaction address has appreciated the steps taken by Prof. S Y Ghabe the chairman, AIBPE of AICTE in bringing out reformation at the UG and PG level. He has also appreciated the GITAM Institute of Pharmacy for registering a steady growth and attaining national importance in very short span of time.
