GlaxoSmithKline Pharma net at Rs.123 crore in Q1

GlaxoSmithKline Pharmaceuticals, a Rs.2,325 crore plus leading MNC, has posted net profit of Rs.122.89 crore during the first quarter ended March 2012 as against Rs.0.46 crore in the corresponding period of last year basically due to lower exceptional items. The company provided exceptional items of Rs.92.97 crore pertaining to rationalisation initiatives relating to a manufacturing site during the first quarter of 2012 as compared to Rs.300.49 crore in the similar period of last year.

Its standalone net sales increased only by 3.3 per cent to Rs.622.78 crore from Rs.602.90 crore. The earnings per share touched to Rs.14.5 as compared to Rs.0.10 in the last period. Its other income increased to Rs.73.34 crore from Rs.51.10 crore which pushed its its EBDITA to Rs.276.14 crore from Rs.268.95 crore, a growth of 2.7 per cent.
