GlaxoSmithKline Pharma net soars by 75% in Q2

GlaxoSmithKline Pharmaceuticals, a major MNC in the country, pushed its net profit by 75 per cent during the second quarter ended June 2005 to Rs 103.46 crore from Rs 59.14 crore in the corresponding period of last year. Its net sales went up by 49.4 per cent to Rs 464.98 crore from Rs 311.29 crore. The earning per share for the quarter under review worked out to Rs 12 as against Rs 7.90.

The company’s net sales for the first half ended June 2005 increased by 19.7 per cent to Rs 741.22 crore from Rs 619.14 crore in the similar half of the last year. The revenue from pharmaceutical reached Rs 654.62 crore from Rs 537.08 crore. The net profit moved up by 37.5 per cent to Rs 150.37 crore in the first half from Rs 109.33 crore in the last period. The earning per share touched to Rs 18.40 from Rs 15.50.

Pursuant to the buy back of shares, the company’s equity capital stood at Rs 84.70 crore as at the end of June 2005. The company received advanced of Rs 221 crore for selling of its properties located at Mulund.
