Healthpoint launches first delivery system for brush-free surgical scrubbing
Healthpoint Ltd, a Texas-based market leader in infection prevention, tissue management, and dermatology products, has introduced the first "touch-free" delivery system for brush-free surgical scrubbing, further revolutionizing operating room efficiencies across the country.
The state-of-the-art, patent-pending design is a touch-free delivery unit that uses an infrared sensor to dispense a controlled amount of Healthpoint's popular preoperative asepsis product, Triseptin, the brush-free scrub. The new system also features a Scrub Time Indicator to inform the surgical staff how long they should scrub.
"The new touch-free system should improve the cost-effectiveness compared to the traditional foot pump systems because it will automatically deliver an accurate, recommended dosage," said Shawn Gentry, marketing director for Healthpoint's Infection Prevention Division.
The new delivery system does not require a foot pump, and because it's powered by batteries rather than electricity, the unit can be placed in any location. According to Gentry, this will contribute to a cleaner, more professional surgical scrubbing area.
The system works exclusively with Triseptin, the only brush-free surgical scrub with a water-aided formula that removes dirt and organic debris between operative procedures. Based on the patented Trizenol technology, Triseptin has three key elements -- a fast-acting active, a long-lasting preservative, and a surfactant that assists in the removal of dirt and organic debris -- all combined in an emollient rich formula.
Other traditional preoperative asepsis products require scrubbing with a surgical scrub brush for five or ten minutes, but Triseptin requires only two 90-second applications and no brush due to its unique surfactant and long-lasting persistence -- an important difference to a surgical staff that traditionally scrubs five times a day.
