Herbalife India, a global network marketing company that sells weight-management, nutrition, and personal care products intended to support a healthy lifestyle, today organized ‘Wellness Camps’ across several locations in Mumbai, Bangalore, Delhi and Hyderabad to celebrate World Health Day. Driven by Herbalife independent distributors, this initiative was undertaken to promote the concept of healthy living and the significance of a healthy balanced diet.
With the focus of this year’s World Health Day being ‘Urbanisation and Health’, the Wellness Camps were conducted at strategic locations within the cities, as well as, all Big Bazaar outlets across the country. They were targeted at both youth and adults and an in-depth, detailed analysis on the individual’s wellness quotient was provided. Through this, individuals had the opportunity to explore their wellbeing and find answers to achieve optimum levels of wellness. The entire health checkup routine included measuring one’s height, corresponding weight, body mass index, basal metabolic rate, muscle mass etc.
Dr Anoop Misra, director & head, Department of Diabetes and Metabolic Disorders, Fortis Group of Hospitals, India and member of Herbalife’s Global Nutrition Advisory Board, said “I compliment the regular Wellness Camp initiatives of Herbalife’s independent distributors. Such efforts are particularly important since diets of Indians are becoming increasingly imbalanced, along with decreasing physical activity. With India projected to be the top country of diabetes and heart disease patients, primary prevention strategies which could definitely and positively impact foods, food habits and physical activity should be primary agenda of physicians and general public.”
Commenting on the philosophy of the Wellness Camps, Ajay Khanna, country head, Herbalife India, said, “The prime objective of conducting these wellness camps, is to reach out to as many people and spread awareness on healthy living through a balanced diet. Especially on the occasion of World Health day, I am happy to say that a large number of people have gone home today with a more precise understanding of their health and wellness. We at Herbalife believe that this is a small yet significant step towards creating a healthy society.”
