The newly set up European class heart institute at the Holy Family Hospital in Bandra, Mumbai, will be inaugurated by Dr. P.C Alexander, Governor of Maharashtra on April 6. The hospital, which has been providing specialized medical care in the city for more than 60 years, has newly set up this full-fledged and latest technology cardiac centre, the Holy Family Heart Institute (HFHI).

According to Brian Pinto, chief cardiologist, HFHI, said that the Institute, which is inspired and supported by the Gaslini Institute in Genoa, Italy, offers Mumbai's citizens top-line European class medical care and would eliminate the need to travel abroad or to other cities for certain specialized cardiac procedures for adults, children and infants.

The HFHI has several differentiating features like the Siemens Axiom Artis Digital Cathlab, the first of its kind in India and the latest in technology support for an accurate diagnosis and treatment. The HFHI is also the first private hospital in Mumbai to offer facilities for foetal echocardiography. Other distinguishing features include an arrhythmia clinic and a high dependency unit, Dr Pinto said.
