HLL launches Ayush Ayurvedic Science Centre

Hindustan Lever Limited (HLL) has launched "Ayush Ayurvedic Science Centre", formed with the aim to promote an understanding of the scientific truths of Ayurveda and their application in a holistic way of life. This center will focus on creating a platform for scientific enquiry of Ayurveda and disseminating the knowledge through collaborations with leading national and international scientific Ayurvedic and medical experts and institutions.

Speaking at the launch, Dr. D. B. Ananthanarayana, Head-Herbals Research at HLL, said, “Standised quality is today the key issue in the development of Ayurvedic medicines. Survival of various players will depend to a large extent on the way these issues evolve. This forum is dedicated to exploring the possibilities of confirming the truth of Ayurveda through the prism of Western science.”

The Centre will pursue its objectives through initiatives such as conducting national and international seminars, sponsoring research programs, promoting health initiatives for the benefit of the public, disseminating information on various aspects of Ayurveda to the scientific and medical community and the public. The Centre will also actively pursue and further the cause of Ayurveda in national and international forums.

To inaugurate this initiative, Ayush Ayurvedic Science Center (AASC) organized its first seminar in the series ‘Science to Ayurveda’ for renowned doctors in the city of Chennai.

Ayush Ayurvedic Science Centre will have a strong association with The Arya Vaidya Pharmacy (AVP),Coimbatore which is one of India’s oldest Ayurvedic institutions. AVP endorses the Ayush brand, which stands for the “Truth of Ayurveda with the Proof of Science” and also partners HLL in the Ayush Therapy Centre initiative.

HLL entered the Ayurvedic personal care and healthcare market in 2002 with the launch of its brand Ayush. HLL has now decided to participate in furthering the cause of ‘Ayurveda’ in India and abroad, through the launch of the Ayush Ayurvedic Science Centre.
