Hologic Inc has released Image Pro for its Delphi bone densitometers. Delphi is the first clinical bone densitometer to integrate bone mineral density (BMD) with Instant Vertebral Assessment (IVA), the two most significant risk factors for future fracture. Through sophisticated image filtration techniques similar to those used in other digital imaging technologies, Image Pro dramatically improves the visual assessment of vertebral body deformities.
To further expand its digital imaging capabilities, Hologic also introduced the Integrated Radiology Informatics System (IRIS), now available for all Delphi and QDR 4500 densitometers. The IRIS package defines the standard for paperless densitometry and vertebral imaging by allowing transmission, remote interpretation, and electronic reporting of patient scans. IRIS is a suite of features designed to streamline workflow by minimizing technologist time and facilitating physician reporting, resulting in improved patient throughput. Hologic is the only densitometry manufacturer to offer DICOM based remote interpretation and paperless reporting tools. These features combined with HL7 connectivity and modality work list complete the integration of Hologic's bone densitometry systems with state of the art electronic medical record systems.
Delphi's fan-beam technology enables the system to generate high-resolution images while maintaining highly accurate and precise bone density measurements. True fan beam design used only by Hologic gives Delphi the ability to image the entire lateral spine in just 10 seconds to assess a patient vertebral fracture status.
