I.S.F. College of Pharmacy organises training programme on current trend in pharmacy practice

Department of Pharmacy Practice, I.S.F. College of Pharmacy Moga, Punjab, organised a Continuing Education-cum-Training Programme on current trends in pharmacy practice from January 15, 2015 to January 17, 2015.

The Programme was organised in joint collaboration with Punjab State Pharmacy Council, Chandigarh, Indian Hospital Pharmacists Association and University Centre of Excellence for Research, Baba Farid University of Health Sciences, Faridkot.

The programme was inaugurated by Hon. Parveen Kumar Bharadwaj, registrar State Pharmacy Council, Chandigarh, Dr. Sandeep Kaushal, dean academics & head department of pharmacology, Dayanand Medical College (DMC) Ludhiana, Vir Vikram Sharma, chief pharmacist & head, pharmacy DMC Ludhiana, chairman Parveen Garg, Dr. Ashish Baldi, Principal I.S.F.College of Pharmacy, Dr. R. K. Narang, Programme Convener and Head Department of Pharmacy Practice I.S.F.C.P. Moga.

A total of 165 participants attended the training programme from various institutes where the Pharm. D course is running.

Bhardwaj in his inaugural speech says, “He was much concerned about the Drug Addiction in youth of Punjab and all the students along with faculty members took the pledge not to get involved in drug addiction.

After his speech and Oath ceremony, scientific session was started with the lecture of Dr. Kaushal. He spoke about the Pharmacovigilance and the role of clinical pharmacist in reporting of Adverse Drug Reaction. Sharma discussed and shared his views on Good Pharmacy Practice in a tertiary care hospital.

A scientific session was taken by Srujna, Lead Scientist, Augur Global Safety Services, Bangalore, the following day, who emphasised on the Adverse drug reporting and Indian Scenario.

The next lecture was taken by Dr. Arun Kumar, Assistant Professor from Department of Pharmacy Practice, I.S.F. College of Pharmacy, Moga on importance of ward round participation for the pharmacy practice students.

There was an orientation programme organised at Guru Gobind Singh Hospital and Medical College, Faridkot where the participants were engaged and oriented with the ward round participation activities.

On the third day of the programme, Dr. Ravinder Garg, Associate Professor in Medicine from Guru Gobind Singh Hospital and Medical College discussed about the various aspects of clinical pharmacy services and role of clinical pharmacist along with the physician. He emphasised on making clinical pharmacist as an important part of healthcare team.

Topic on the 'Importance of HbA1Cin Diabetes Mellitus', was then discussed by Dr. Parveen Bansal, Joint Director, University Center of Excellence and Research, Baba Farid University of Health Sciences, Faridkot, Punjab.

The last lecture of the plenary session was taken by Prof. N.K. Jain, Director, I.S.F. College of Pharmacy, Moga on the 'Targeted Drug Delivery System and its importance in the Clinical Field'.

A case presentation competition for Pharm D students was held in the college premises. Many students participated and presented their clinical cases in front of the judges whereby the first three case presentations were shared to the participants for a discussion.

The session then concluded with distribution of prizes and certificates to the candidates.
