IACTSCON 2017 63rd edition highlights reaching new frontiers in cardiac surgical skills

The Indian Association of Cardiovascular and Thoracic Surgeons (IACTS) is one of the premier and the largest congregation of the experts from across the globe highlights the need to update related Clinical Practice Guidelines.

The 63rd annual conference which is being held from February 23 to 26, 2017 was inaugurated by Dr Sharanaparakash R Patil, Minister for Medical Education, Government of Karnataka. There is a trade exhibition evolving around the theme, ‘Reaching new frontiers, Our will, Your skill’ is an ideal platform to participants. The format of the conference includes oration, guest lectures, debates, panel discussion and recent technological advance.

 “This year we have 2,000 Cardiovascular and Thoracic Surgeons attending the conference from across the country. The conference is the array of scientific and educational activities, including lectures, medical educations, debates and development and continuous updating of Cardiac Clinical Practice Guidelines, teaching and training in Cardiothoracic and Vascular Surgery and scientific decision making and data generation for specific diseases, said Dr Vivek Jawali, Organising Chairman, IACTSCON.

According to Dr Giridhar Kamalapurkar, organising secretary, IACTSCON, the effort was to bring all the Indian origin senior cardiac surgeons who are holding western faculty positions for this event. This would promote their networking with present generation of cardiac surgeons in India.

“We have received 150 papers, 100 posters this year. The recipients of life time achievement in Cardiovascular & Thoracic surgeons who also include women Dr Ratna Magotra of Mumbai and Dr Sushila Sripad of Kolkata,” he added.
