The Indian Academy of Pediatrics (IAP) will conduct Pedicon 2004, a four-day international conference from 8th to 11th January 2004 at the Sri Ramachandra Medical College, Chennai, as part of its 41st annual national conference.
The event comes to Tamil Nadu after a gap of 17 years, and is being hosted by the IAP-Tamil Nadu State Chapter, IAP-Chennai City branch and Indian Journal of Practical Pediatrics.
According to sources, around 7000 pediatricians from different parts of the country and experts from abroad are likely to participate in the event. Stressing on child health in the country, the theme of the conference will be Healthy Child – Mighty India’. The conference would have separate sessions for practical pediatrics and advanced pediatrics, said sources.
Sources said the conference would begin with the Continuing Medical Education (CME) programmes to help the undergraduates and postgraduates gather information on the latest developments in pediatrics through interactive lecture classes by senior practitioners and experts in the field.
As part of the conference, the organizers are planning to conduct workshops on the subject on January 7 2004. It would enable the students and practitioners to get hands on experience in subjects like pediatric emergency medicine, basic ventilation, neonatal advanced life support, adolescent healthcare, peritoneal dialysis, flexible bronchoscopy, ECG, pediatric endocrinology, evidence based medicine etc., said sources.
