IBAB to organise workshop on 'Role of Statistics in Clinical Trials' on July 8, 9
The Institute of Bioinformatics and Applied Biotechnology (IBAB), Bangalore is organising a 2-day workshop on Role of Statistics in Clinical Trials between July 8 and 9, 2005 at its campus in the ITPL in Whitefield in the outskirts of the city. The workshop titled 'Role of Statistics in Clinical Trials' is planned to give an in-depth view on the role a statistician plays in conducting the clinical trials.
The event is organised in association with Clinigene International Pvt Ltd., Bangalore, GlaxoSmithKline Pharmaceuticals Ltd., Bangalore and Vaatsalya Healthcare Solutions Pvt. Ltd., Bangalore.
The main objective of the event is to project how statistics plays an important role throughout any clinical trial, from planning, conduct, interim analysis, final analysis and reporting.
The 2-day workshop intends to provide an in-depth coverage on the statistical concepts used in clinical trials, according to the organisers.
The workshop is primarily targeted at Project managers, Executives handling the data in CROs, MBBS/Pharma/Statistics students and Pharmaceutical industry executives.

The module on the opening day will cover Pharmaceutical development overview, The why, what and how of Clinical trials, Design of clinical trials - Phase I, II, III and IV Sample Size for clinical trials - Continuous outcome, Proportions and Survival endpoints. The final day will include Descriptive Statistics - proportions, graphs, confidence intervals. Analysis of continuous data, Analysis of survival data - survival curves, Kaplan Meir and Reporting a study - CONSORT, officials informed.
