iCAD Inc announced the availability of its new MammoWriter System, offering women's health centers the same effective CD technology offered by its MammoReader and MammoReader II models in a compact, stand-alone CAD solution for under $100,000. The MammoWriter is designed to provide CAD results in printed form for radiologist review. Computer aided detection using the MammoWriter system to supplement a routine screening mammogram can detect 23% of breast cancers an average of 14 months earlier than screening mammography alone.

In most situations, this should allow the health center to generate positive cash flow over the entire operating lease term. Parr went on to elaborate on iCAD's ability to offer a CAD system at a lower price than competitive systems.
