ICRI announces scholarship programmes in clinical research

Institute of Clinical Research (India), the country's premier clinical research institute dedicated to promoting ethical research and high-quality clinical research education, has announced scholarship programmes in the emerging field of clinical research which has immense potential for a bright, promising and successful future.

In a first of its kind initiative, ICRI provides a platform where the students can participate in this contest and with their aptitude, intelligence, knowledge and passion can go ahead and win a fully paid scholarship for a valued degree/diploma in clinical research. During the contest, student will have to take up various quiz and activities to reach the finale. There will be experts from the industry and ICRI who will be judging the students on their ability to perform in a task. Students who are interested can log on to the CNN IBN website and register (www.ibnlive.com/avivayoungscholar). Last date for registration is June 27, 2009.

On this occasion, S R Dugal, chairman Board of Directors, ICRI said, "Through this scholarship programme we aim to address the need for qualified and trained Clinical Research professionals globally. Also am confident that the students who are keen to pursue a career in clinical research will benefit tremendously from this scholarship and we wish them the very best."

ICRI has recently conducted a study; the clinical research industry the world over is growing at an unparalleled rate, opening up new vistas of employment for a large number of trained professionals. With advancement in pharmaceutical and medical sciences, this has become an all important steam in the R&D efforts of a pharmaceutical company. The clinical trial market worldwide is US $45 billion and the industry employs 2,10,000 people in the US and over 70,000 people in the UK. In India 10,000 professionals are needed every year and by 2010, there will be a demand for 50,000 CR scientist.
