Jonathan H. Crouch, the biotechnology global team leader for the International Crops Research Institute for Semi-Arid Tropics (ICRISAT) has won the Young Scientist Award for 2003, instituted by the Consultative Group on International Agricultural Research (CGIAR).
Dr. Grouch, as the leader of team of scientists working on biotechnology, established a state-of-the-art genotyping lab with a potential unsurpassed in the public sector plant breeding community in the developing world. His team also made substantial strides towards building partnerships with the private sector through the establishment of agri- business incubator and agri- biotech park.
The award was presented at the annual general body meeting of the CGIAR at Nairobi, recently.
