ideaPoint launches portal offering researchers to seek access to clinical data from promoters of global studies
ideaPoint, Inc., leading provider of partnership and collaboration for global companies, has launched a new portal providing a secure system allowing researchers seek access to clinical trial data anonymized patients offered by organizations promoters (clinicalstudydatarequest.com). Proponents of studies that have committed to provide data on the site currently includes Boehringer Ingelheim, GlaxoSmithKline, Roche, Sanofi and ViiV Healthcare.
With extensive experience in providing online collaboration solutions for global enterprises, ideaPoint propels the technology underlying the secure application process and evaluation of the new site.
While researchers continue to search for treatments and cures for some of the greatest medical challenges of society, the possibility of finding scientific knowledge that could lead to potential improvements in patient care by conducting further research with clinical trial data has been universally recognized. For the first time, researchers can select studies of interest from several developers across multiple therapeutic areas and submit a research project only through a user-friendly portal. Research projects to access the data are reviewed by a panel of independent reviewers who decide whether access should be given. The panel examines the scientific proposal, draft publication, conflicts of interests and qualifications of the research team.
The people involved in this initiative have considered switching the management and review of future proposals to an independent third party as soon as possible.
In addition to research projects to request data from clinical trials already listed on the site, researchers can also submit inquiries to certain promoters studies to request the availability of data from studies not yet listed. After approval by the independent panel of examiners, researchers are asked to sign an agreement to share data. A summary of the requirements of this agreement and a model agreement are provided on the site.
"The design and development of user-friendly site that is a consequence of our software for collaboration and partnership. To support this need was a natural extension of our work with organizations in the life sciences, academic and non-profit, and we are pleased to work with representatives of organizations promoters to reach this milestone," said Scott Shaunessy , CEO and founder of ideaPoint. "Our solution is highly configurable and provides the functionality to be expanded to the extent that the initiative is expanding over time."
The portal currently has several scholarships available to organizations of promoters. It was designed with a flexible configuration so that other industrial developers, academics and non-profit can join and include their studies.
ideaPoint and sponsors who have made the site feel that this is an important step in providing better access to data relating to patients for biomedical research, and we look forward to collaboration continued and increased in the research community, insofar as this initiative evolves over time.
