IIP plans meet on packaging for drug, medical devices at Delhi in April

Indian Institute of Packaging (Delhi Branch) is organizing a one-day Interactive Meet on Packaging in Pharmaceuticals and Medical Devices on April 29, 2004 in Delhi. The meet is to have the participation of all stakeholders like packaging material manufacturers, machinery suppliers and the user – pharmaceutical and medical devices – industry.

Informing this to pharmabiz.com, N C Saha Joint director & head, IIP (Delhi Branch) said that the institute through the interactive session would try to understand the present status of Indian packaging industry and to know more about the specific needs of Indian pharmaceutical industry.

Mechanisms for security packaging and testing quality of various packaging material used for pharma industry would be extensively discussed, he said.

Based on the discussion, IIP would identify the areas where there is a need for urgent upgradation of skills for the benefit of user industry. The session would also carry out a comparative study on the currently available designs and the innovative designs introduced elsewhere.

IIP would also try to understand the new packaging materials being installed and various measures adopted by them for technology upgradation. The interaction would be helpful for pharma and medical devices industry to understand the current status of indigenously development packaging materials that are available to them.

“While the Delhi event would showcase the Indian strengths in packaging, the international conference planned in Mumbai would give complete picture of the international developments in the area. Both the programmes are going to be extremely useful for pharmaceutical industry”, Saha said.
