The Indian Medical Association, Maharashtra State Branch has launched two separate Mediclaim policies for the benefit of its members and their families.

The first policy titled, 'Tailor-made Mediclaim Insurance Policy' is being bought out in collaboration with United India Insurance Company Ltd., Pune. The claim would cover nine major illness groups as cardiac diseases, kidney failure including renal transplants, encephalitis, neurosurgery, paralysis, stroke, total joint replacement, all forms of cancer, liver disorders with associated complications and any accidental injury. Further the policy would be a cashless policy where insured members need not pay to the hospital. The insurance cover would be Rs 15 lacs every year for five years.

The second policy, 'Standard Mediclaim Insurance Policy', will take care of the unfortunate health events that could not be included in the above policy. The insurance cover would be the same Rs 15 lacs for a period of five years.

The IMA has yet not identified the list of hospitals and would provide the list in a few days from now. Already the IMA has received around 100 hundred registrations and hope to cover around 1000 members by the year-end.
