A fire broke out in one of the 3 units at Sun Pharma's bulk active plant in Panoli early this morning and was brought under control in half an hour. This unit manufactures intermediates for bulk actives.

Two workers were injured and their condition is found stable; they are under proper medical treatment.

The cause of the fire is being investigated but may be due to short circuit after excessive rain. The extent of the damage will take time to assess, a release from Sun pharma said.

Earlier, the company had reported that its Silvassa 1 and 2 dosage form plants were affected by heavy rain and flood due to release of dam waters.
