The India Lab Expo 2010 , the second international exhibition and conference on scientific & laboratory technology held from December 10 to 12 at Pragati Maidan, New Delhi drew plaudits from lab managers, QC and QA heads, scientists, professors, industrialists, doctors, technicians and trade suppliers for the display of the latest products and services by Indian and international participants.
The expo showcased products of 160 exhibitors from 10 countries. They presented their products and innovation in the scientific, laboratory, analytical, biotechnology, educational and other related fields. Exhibitors from USA, Switzerland, Germany, S. Korea, Malaysia, China, Singapore, France and Hungary along with a large contingent from of Indian scientific industry had their strong presence. Thus the expo celebrated diversity by opening up barriers and cutting across borders.
The aim of the expo was to provide a platform for business development, marketing, and create way to open new avenues for transfer of technologies to the motivated entrepreneurs and scientific fraternity. The total exhibit space was approx. 6000 square metre.
The exhibitors profile included laboratory, analytical, biotechnology, material testing, microbiology, clinical lab, pathology, diagnostic, medical lab, petroleum testing, water testing, educational lab and optical instruments. Apart from such instruments lab chemicals, lab furniture, lab glassware, lab plasticware, filtration, software and liquid handling products manufacturers and distributors were also participated this mega event.
More than 80 per cent exhibitors achieved the primary purpose of participation, of promoting new instruments and services, and 49 per cent could find local distributors or securing orders during the show. A total of 5900 visitors and delegates converged at the show and conference. The exhibitors were pleased with the quality and number of visitors.
The conference during the expo was transfer of knowledge at the highest level which featured 25 presentations that were held first two days of the show. The conference was inaugurated by Chief Guest Dr Deepak Haldankar, Head QC Department, Cipla Ltd. along with Guest of Honour Dr Y K Gupta, chairman of GLP Monitoring Committee and Dr Vipul Yamdagni, head corporate – quality assurance Ranbaxy Ltd. They were also talked about Good Laboratory Practices and emerging analytical technologies.
Two new sessions introduced this year include clinical research and physics apart from analytical technologies. The guest speakers include Devina Bhardwaj (CEO, Intervein Laboratories Pvt Ltd.), Dr Aparna Jha Ahuja (GM, Super Religare), Dr B R Das (executive director, Super Religare), Dr A K Dixit (IARI), Dr Ashish Agarwal (National Physical Laboratories), Dr Anil Kumar (National Physical Laboratories), Dr S K Singhal (National Physical Laboratories), Dr H C Verma (IIT, Kanpur).
Prominent national and international speakers made their presentations to an audience of approximately 400 delegates.
