Before the proposed visit of the prime minister of India, Dr Manmohan Singh, to Tanzania in September 2006, a high level delegation consisting of government officials and leading businessmen from Tanzania would be visiting India in the third week of August for interacting with Indian businessmen.

One of the major proposals under active consideration of both the Governments is 'establishment of manufacturing facilities in Tanzania for production of pharmaceuticals, particularly 'HIV, Anti Aids drugs.' Govt of India is very keen to encourage such investments and they may be finalized during the visit of prime minister to Tanzania.

Potential for supply of Aids/HIV drugs in Africa and Tanzania is quite good and initiatives like this would be an ideal opportunity for such supplies, Pharmexcil sources said.
