Healthcare Club at the Indian School of Business (ISB) will be hosting the healthcare and pharma conclave 'Managing Change and Innovation' on September 25, 2010 at its Hyderabad campus. Healthcare and pharmaceuticals industries is expected to experience a sea of change over the coming decade. Innovations in service delivery models, efficiency of delivery, strategic alliances and regulation will be the drivers of this change. The conclave plans to explore each of these drivers to understand how they can be managed in the coming decade.
The event will have discussion on IP and innovation management and it will b presented by Dr Malathi Lakshmikumaran, the noted IP attorney from New Delhi. She will deal with recent developments in patenting of pharmaceutical and biotechnological innovation within the context of the Indian patent law. She will examine the present position, post 2005, and discuss important changes and amendments. Besides, the definition of Patent Act will be discussed with exclusions and exceptions. discovery and innovation will be explained through examples.
Ranjit Shahani the country president responsible for the overall operations of the Novartis Group of Companies in India will be speaking on CEO’s view of the pharmaceuticals industry over the next decade. The event will also have a pharma workshop which will be conducted by Carthik Reddy, Biologics, DRL and Susan Josi, owner, Sorento Healthcare. The session will provide an abbreviated view of the overall process and specific insight into planning for India/USA/Europe clinical regulations in light of strategy, financial needs, and the concerns of prospective partners and investors. Entrepreneurs and big pharma need to have a basic understanding of the activities, resources and costs associated with the design and conduct of research and clinical studies.
