ISM&H directorate warns public against use of products of Vintage, Prerana
Karnataka Directorate of Indian System of Medicine and Homeopathy Drug Licence Authority has issued a notice warning public that ayurveda medicines Amar Rub and Amar Pain Balm manufactured by Vintage Remedies in Bangalore and Miracle Ayurveda Pain Killer Oil and Dentofresh Dantamanjana manufactured by Prerana Associates in Bangalore are being sold in the market without certification and validation of products from the licensing authorities.
The sale and the stock of the medicines are prohibited as no licenses have been issued to the manufacturers from the Directorate of Indian System of Medicine and Homeopathy, stated sources.
The drug licensing authority has cautioned the public not to use the products and in case any sale or stock of the medicines are noticed, they should immediately intimate the to the Directorate Licensing Wing or a complaint may be launched at the nearest police station.
Meanwhile, the Karnataka Indian Medicine Manufacturers’ Association (KIMMA) has informed the Directorate that the unscrupulous manufacturers whose licenses are cancelled for not adhering to Schedule T norms are still operating in different parts of the state.
“One such case was reported to the Joint Commissioner (Crime), Bangalore City Police who have taken action. Such illegal manufacturing activity will have a direct effect on the licensed units, which have recently upgraded the infrastructure investing huge amounts of money in order to comply with Schedule T standards, stated JSD Pani, secretary, KIMMA.
In a communiqué to the state health and family welfare department, Pani has stated Violation of Drugs and Magic Remedies Act (Objectionable Advertisements) 1964 is also rampant and not even a single case has been booked against such activities.
Further, he also requested the Department of AYUSH, Government of India and the Principal secretary of Karnataka health and family welfare to hold an enquiry and initiate action against the violating units and to evaluate the state directorate’s efforts in regular conduct of inspections.
