Ivax launches cefuroxime axetil tablets

Ivax Corporation announced that its wholly owned subsidiary, Ivax Pharmaceuticals, Inc., is distributing cefuroxime axetil tablets in 250 mg and 500 mg dosage strengths.

Cefuroxime axetil is the generic equivalent of Ceftin, which is marketed by GlaxoSmithKline, and is an orally-administered antibiotic used to treat patients with mild to moderate infections. The U.S. sales of Ceftin and cefuroxime axetil tablets in 250 and 500 mg strength were approximately $239 million for the past twelve months, ending in March 31, 2003.

Ivax Corporation, headquartered in Miami, Florida, discovers, develops, manufactures, and markets branded and brand equivalent (generic) pharmaceuticals and veterinary products in the U.S. and internationally.
