Ivax Corporation announced that the Polish Office for Competition and Consumer Protection (Urzad Ochrony Konkurencji i c) granted clearance to Ivax to acquire control over Kutnowskie Zaklady Farmaceutyczne Polfa SA ("Polfa Kutno"), a pharmaceutical company listed on the Warsaw Stock Exchange.

Following the decision from the Competition Office, Ivax expects a decision shortly from the Polish Securities and Exchange Commission (Komisja Papierow Wartosciowych i Gield) regarding its application to acquire more than 50 per cent of the voting power of Polfa Kutno stock. Upon receipt of the necessary remaining approvals, Ivax will continue with its plans to acquire Polfa Kutno.
