Karnataka DC bans 5 more drug preparations after finding them substandard
Karnataka drugs control department banned five more drugs after finding them of not of standard quality in the testing laboratory. The chemists, doctors and hospitals in the state have been warned not to stock or sell or use these drugs.
In case, stocks are available with the medical stores and hospitals they must intimate the concerned area drugs inspectors or assistant drugs inspectors. The public are also warned not to purchase these drugs over-the-counter, stated a release from the State drugs control department.
The drugs are: Endoplex which is a vitamin B complex injection batch No. 21101,manufactured by Endolabs Ltd. Bombay Agar Road, Pithamber -453446.
Amoxycillin dispersible tablets IP, batch No. 0011, manufactured by the Orissa Drugs and chemicals, Bhubaneswar 751001.
Gentamycin injections IP, batch No. 03, manufactured by RR Laboratories, Indore. Another product is Gentamycin Sulphate IP batch No.G-271, manufactured by Prime Pharma Tech. (I), Hyderabad 500055.
Drugs Amoxycillin & Cloxacillin dispersible tablets. Cloxacin DT 125,batch No. T 1690, manufactured by Empree Medicaments (I) Pvt. Ltd have been found to be out of standard quality.
According to the retail chemists in the city, there are no sales of these preparations as frequent intimations by the drugs control department have made them cautious. But it could be possible that the chemist outlets located in the outskirts of Bangalore would be stocking these drugs.
There is a need for a constant interaction between the drugs control department and the trade to highlight the suspected not of standard quality drugs, informed V Hari Krishnan, Bangalore District and Druggists and Association. “The unearthing of the multi-crore drugs scam has resulted in the drug department to intimate list of such drugs,” he added.
H Jayaram acting drugs control, government of Karnataka said that it was high time the poor quality drugs were brought to the notice of the public and the information is circulated to the chemists trade and hospitals all over the State who stock the same.
