Karnataka government winds up task force on health and family welfare headed by Dr.Sudharshan
Government of Karnataka has decided to wind up the task force on health and family welfare headed by Dr. H Sudarshan, which had suggested policy changes for improvement in functioning of various core departments of health in the State.
The decision to dissolve the six task forces was taken at State Cabinet meeting held here on health and family welfare. The other task forces, which were dissolved, are information technology in higher education, infrastructure, woman-child primary education revival and rehabilitation of flying training school. But the Vision Group on Biotechnology headed by Kiran Mazumdar Shaw along with the chief minister's task force on Information Technology is not yet axed.
A government order has been already issued to this effect. However a gazette notification is awaited.
According to senior government official, the task force on health and family welfare had submitted a final report of the scene of healthcare in the State and the recommendations have been considered for implementation.
The chief minister's task force on IT and the Vision Group on Biotechnology have been given top priority as the two have significantly contributed to the State earning an international fame.
But sources from the government have argued that the Task Force on health and family welfare has been instrumental in highlighting the lacunae in health care in the State and hence its discontinuation would affect the healthcare scene in the State.
