Warriers Ayurveda, the drug development and research facility of the Warriers Ayurveda Hospital & Panchakarma Centre at Kayamkulam near Aalappuzha in Kerala, has developed two unique herbal food supplements, including one claimed to have properties to prevent and control Type I and type II diabetes, and the other, a stress reliever.

Named Dhathri Diavitta, and Dhathri Vitta, the products are undergoing clinical trials 'with satisfactory and effective results', said Dr.S.Sajikumar, Director and Chief Physician at Warrier's exclusively to Pharmabiz.com. Warrier's Ayurveda has already set up a 60,000 capsules per day GMP certified manufacturing facility near Kottayam for large-scale production, and talks are on with a Kochi based firm to establish the marketing network. The products are likely to be launched within two months, said Dr.Sajikumar.

He claimed Dhathri Diavitta is a potent dietary food supplement with ingredients like green tea, turmeric, fenugreek and Indian gooseberry. Green Tea has properties to control blood sugar level and is an effective anti-viral and anti-fungal agent to protect from infections common among diabetic patients. Similarly, fenugreek and turmeric has powers to control blood sugar and blood pressure. Indian gooseberry has properties to improve the body immunity, and also fights inflammations. Though herbal drugs to combat diabetes are available in the market, food supplements utilizing the curative properties of green tea is being developed for the first time, claimed Dr.Sajikumar.

Dhathri Vitta, the dietary revitalizer and stress relieving food supplement has ingredients like Mucuna pruriens- an ayurvedic remedy for correcting sexual disorders and nervous dysfunctions, Withania somnifera popularly known as Aswagandha which is an aphrodisiac and stress relieving agent, Asparagus adscendens popularly known as Safed Musali with rejuvenative properties, and green tea. The drug is capable of correcting the metabolism in human body by revitalizing the pancreatic cells and will help to relieve stress and provide rejuvenation, said Dr.Sajikumar.
