Kerala DC bans batches of substandard drugs and surgical items

The Kerala drug control department has banned a few batches of drugs and surgical items found to be of substandard quality from the state outlets, following sample tests conducted at the state drug control laboratory.

This includes absorbent cotton IP of batch number 009 manufactured by Modern Surgicals (P) Ltd., Kurli (Ropar), Paraffin IPR -292 manufactured by Messer's PCT Pvt Ltd, Thiruvananthapuram, dichlophinac sodium tablets I P. of batch number 9701360 from Vapicare Pharma Pvt Ltd and ascorbic tablets IP. (batch - 210) of Modern Laboratories, Indore.

Besides, the DC has banned Anlagen tablets IP (127) of Praveen Pharma, vitamin B Complex injection NFI of batch number VO154 made by Kokkat Pharmaceuticals Laboratories, Kottayam, aluminium hydroxide and magnesium tricylicate tablets NFI, (02537) of Bright Drugs Industries Limited, Indore, Roller bandages for POP, batch- 80, Sri Vinayagar Surgicals, Samasigapuram, piperazine hydrate Liquid IP 4504 of Stanmas Laboratories, Hyderabad, paracetamol syrup IP of batch numbers L-698 and L-685 made by Bafna Pharmaceuticals, Chennai.

Piperazine Hydrated Liquid IP of batch numbers 4504, 4505, 4506, 4507 and 4508 manufactured by Stanmas Laboratories (P) Ltd. of Hyderabad and ascorbic acid tablets IP of batch number 211 manufactured by Modern Laboratories private Limited, Hyderabad also figure in the list.

The respective companies have been asked to withdraw the batches from the market with immediate effect, according to the state drug control department.
