Kerala High Court admits PIL against inequity for AIDS victim burial
The Kerala High Court has admitted a public interest litigation (PIL) seeking a direction to the state government to ensure that no discrimination be shown in the use of common burial grounds and crematoriums against those dying of AIDS.
The petition, filed by ''CPK Plus'', an organisation working for people affected with HIV/AIDS, was admitted by the division bench comprising Chief Justice B N Srikrishna and Justice R Basant.
Incidents of discrimination to those who succumb to HIV/AIDS were on the increase and have been reported from various parts of the state. The authorities were not trying to find any remedy to stop the discrimination, the petitioner said.
