Life Sciences Alliance to hold life sciences symposium at Goa from April 29

The Life Sciences Alliance, an association formed by Austin Chemical Company Inc (USA), Suven Life Sciences, Shasun Chemicals and Drugs and Innovasynth Technologies to integrate capabilities and synergies of pharmaceutical companies from the US and India to help globalize pharmaceutical drug development process in 2003, is to organize a life sciences symposium from April 29 to May 1, 2004 in Goa.

The symposium provides a platform to the global pharma industry experts to share perspectives on the complexities of globalization of the pharma research, development and manufacturing processes.

Experts from US, Europe, China and India representing academia, industry and regulatory bodies will provide an insight of the current trends and challenges in addition to the capabilities and increasing thrust on innovation in South Asia and South East Asia.

A workshop will be conducted as part of the event which will raise discussions on intellectual property environment, emerging trends in drug discovery and development, outsourcing and manufacturing regulatory environment, clinical research and a special session on the investment trends in the Indian pharma industry.

Eminent professionals from the pharma industry including Dr Leland Weigel of Lilly Research, Dr Potkar of Pfizer, Dr Nagarkatti of Sigma Aldrich and various other experts will share their experiences and views on varied subjects.

The symposium offers a tremendous opportunity for CEOs, heads of research and development, experts from manufacturing and regulatory front to establish network and develop alliances. It will enable investors within India and the rest of the world to understand an evolving phenomena in globalization of the pharma industry, Venkat Jasti, managing director, Suven Life sciences said.

About 200 delegates from various areas concerning the industry are going to take part in the symposium.
