Lifeline Hospital to host 5th conference on obesity from March 16-18
Lifeline multi-specialty Hospital under the auspices of the Obesity Surgery Society of India (OSSI) will host the 5th national congress (OSSICON) between the 16th and the 18th of March 2007.
The 3-day Congress will be held at Hotel Park Sheraton in Chennai and will comprise presentations by eminent doctors, live demonstrations of procedures that will be conducted at Lifeline multi-speciality Hospital, Perungudi which will be relayed to Hotel Park Sheraton through telemedicine (video conferencing). There will also be videos presentations on procedures that have been used to treat morbid obesity.
According to a press release, obesity is one the most alarming health concerns of our country today. There have been various means of obesity management like dieting, supplements and various forms of weight reduction exercises that have been tried to combat this lifestyle disease but with no major success. The advancements in technology and the medical field have brought to light surgeries for the management of morbid obesity that have brought hope to many.
Surjit Singh Barnala, Governor of Tamilnadu, will inaugurate OSSICON 2007 on March 16 at Le Royal Meridian at 7 p.m. V K Subburaj, secretary to government of Tamilnadu, Health and Family Welfare, will be the guest of honour and Dr Dilip K Baliga, director, Health and Family Welfare, government of Puducheri will be the special guest on the occasion.
