LogiTag Systems, a leading provider of RFID solutions and high-value inventory management systems, announced the installation of StockBox RFID solution to further supply rooms at the Bnai Zion Medical Centre. StockBox was initially selected by Sarel, Israel’s largest medical supplier, given the cloud based software that enables a direct communication between the medical supplier and the hospital.

This technological capability enable all reordering information (including restocking reports and requests) to automatically be sent to both the hospital’s ERP system as well as to Sarel. Given the numerous benefits to this system StockBox was primarily introduced and tested only at ‘Internal Medicine Department A’, servicing one unit with an average of 44 beds, however, will now more than triple this number.

Bnai Zion Medical Centre is a public hospital. It was looking to avoid ‘out-of-stock’ situations, and ensure the ongoing inventory availability for medical staff at all times. At the same time, the facility was also looking to free up valuable storage space for alternative practices. LogiTag’s StockBox enabled the hospital to lower inventory levels, free up more areas, without ever running out-of stock. It helped eliminated the need for manual counting as automatic inventory status reports were made available. The medical centre saved staff time, money spent on unwanted supplies, and space for better patient care.

StockBox provides hospitals and suppliers with a simple, highly efficient method to automate inventory management and reordering of medical supplies. It combines a two bin Kanban system with RFID technology and cloud-based software to collect reordering information from RFID-enabled stock cards, to run ongoing restocking reports, or send requests as they occur. The solution, among other benefits, eliminates manual counting, and improves the availability of supplies.

Sarel, serving most of the country’s public hospitals, can now receive continuous online reports of the inventory status. They no longer have to wait for hospital personnel to count supplies or send unwanted inventory on the contrary, they now send accurate quantities and types of stocks to the hospital before there is a chance for running out. The data is available on LogiTag’s Cloud Server solution, and accessible by various departments including billing, operations, and curriers.

Given the successful implementation and initial results, the hospital’s next steps are to expand the StockBox usage for the entire facility, and move the entire materials management responsibility to Sarel. This way, each side can concentrate on what they are good at Hospital on patient care, and Sarel on medical supplies.

“We are pleased to be the connecting element between the medical centre and its supplier,” Said Shlomo Matityaho, chief executive officer, LogiTag Systems. “Today, there is growing trend of requests from both the suppliers’ side as well as the hospitals to optimise inventory management. This means they wish to have an online, constant information stream for the entire operational chain the warehouse, delivery trucks, billing departments, sales, materials managers, nurses and more.  In addition to this trend, we see that hospitals are looking to go beyond tracking just their medical supplies and devices, but also to equipment and patients.   We look forward to bringing our entire end-to-end product line to this and other facilities.”
