Lupin, a third largest pharma company in India with net sales of Rs. 13,700 core plus, has received final approval for its memantine hydrochloride extended-release capsules, 7mg, 14mg, 21mg and 28 mg from the US FDA to market a generic version of Allergan's Namenda XR capsules.
Lupin's capsules are the AB rated generic equivalent of Allergan's Namenda XR capsules. These capsules are indicated for treatment of moderate to severe dementia of the Alzheimer's type. Namenda XR capsules had US sales of US$1.22 billion.
