Madhya Pradesh is fast catching up with neighbouring states like Maharashtra and Gujarat due to presence of pharmaceutical manufacturers such as IPCA Laboratories, Lupin, Cipla, Ranbaxy, Pentagon, Plethico, Alpa labs, MCW Healthcare, IMA-PG etc, according to Dr V G Somani, Joint Drugs Controller General (India)

Inaugurating the second edition of Pharmatech Expo 2013, Dr Somani  said that many others are also on verge of joining the growing list of Indore’s top 100 Pharma companies making a beeline for Indore, with the boost provided by Indore SEZ.

Central India’s pharmaceutical industry witnessed the largest pharma machinery, laboratory and packaging equipment, manufacturing show of the year between October 6 and 8 at the Brilliant Convention Centre, Indore. The event was highly productive showcasing the latest international products.

The second edition of Pharmatech Expo 2013 proved to be the best so far in terms of the services and the vibrancy it produced.While Dr Somanias was the chief guest for the inagural ceremony, Dr D S Mandloi, director, MSME Development Institute, Indore was the special guest of the ceremony.

Other dignitaries who addressed the gathering were Daara Patel, secretary general, IDMA, India, Ramesh Shah, chairman, PharmaTechnologyIndex.com Pvt. Ltd, Paresh Chawla, chairman, Local Organising Committee and Veerramani, vice president South, IDMA.

This PharmaTech Expo 2013, Indore was organised by PharmaTechnologyIndex.com Pvt. Ltd (a KNS group of company) jointly with Indian Drug Manufacturers’ Association (IDMA) in association with Pharmexcil and supported by Ministry of MSME.

On the evening of October 6, The MP state board of IDMA was inaugurated by Mahendra Hardia, Minister of Health and Family Welfare, MP. Paresh Chawla was elected as the founder chairman of MP state board.

The event was supported by MPPMO, Pithampur Audhyogik Sangathan, IAIA and MPSSDMA. IMA-PG India Pvt. Ltd. was the industry partner for the show and Newtronic Life care Equipment Pvt. Ltd. was the conference partner of the show. Cadmach and Modern Institute of Pharmaceutical Studies were among the sponsors for the show.

Around 100 companies participated at the event from all over India. Some of the international companies from South Korea, Germany, USA, China and Hong Kong also participated in the event.

The exhibitors mainly consisted of processing plant and machinery, packaging materials and machinery, lab equipment and lab wares, R&D and quality control etc. There were also participants from healthcare products, environment and pollution control, trade, associations and promotion bodies.

The Pharma Tech Expo 2013 proved to be a major specialized event  where exhibitors showcased their latest advancements, achievements, modern technologies and newest trends within the industry in manufacturing, packaging, R&D etc for business generation and upgradation. It had projected quality controls and government regulations and controls. It also projected the brand value of organisations, joint venture firm, partnership firm, project collaborations, transfer of technology, investments and R&D.

A full day seminar “Pharmaceutical Stability Study” was organised on October 7, which was conducted and sponsored by Newtronic Equipments Lifecare Equipment Pvt Ltd.

The seminar was inaugurated by Daara Patel, secretary general, IDMA and the proceedings was carried forward with opening remarks along with technical presentation by the sponsor Navin Mehta of Newtronic Lifecare Equipment Pvt Ltd. Kapil Bhargava, retired Deputy Drugs Controller, made a presentation on the regulatory issues vis-à-vis stability.

The next was a presentation on regulatory and stability issues by Arun Gosavi, R&D incharge of Alpa Labs Ltd, Indore.

The chairman of PharmaTechnologyIndex.com Pvt Ltd. Ramesh Shah had put in special efforts to get international participation. While thanking the participants, visitors and keynote speakers, he said that there would be a continuous process to organise PharmaTech Expo every two years for promoting small and medium group of companies for showcasing their latest machinery for pharma, packaging, lab equipment industries etc.

The second session of the conference was conducted by MSME on the barcoding systems of the pharma industry. V P Sharma gave detailed information on the barcoding and its application. Jigish Chiniwala of Condot Systems Pvt Ltd gave exquisite details about barcoding applications.

The third day was devoted for presentations by the students and the academicians. There was a poster presentation on the various latest technological advancements of pharmaceuticals by the final year students of many pharmacy colleges in and around Indore. The best poster presentation was selected from amongst the participants by Prof. S K Jain of Smruti College of Pharmacy and Anil Kharia of Modern College of Pharmacy. The best of the posters was awarded by Ramesh Shah. Around 800 students participated for the same. The students along with their professors also visited the expo hall and had a close view of the new technologies presented in the exhibition.

The exhibition was a good platform for the growth of Indore pharma industry in central India. The expo yielded fruitful business deals to the industry and left remarkable footprints at Indore.
