Major research-oriented cos to participate in B'lore R&D Forum

Several research oriented pharmaceutical majors of the country would represent in the two-day R&D Forum being organised at Bangalore this week. The leading companies from the pharmaceutical and biotech sectors, who would represent in the Forum includes Nicholas Piramal, Orchid Chemicals, Panacea Biotech, Reliance Life Sciences, Unichem, Advanta, Ajanta Pharma, Aristo Pharma, Cheminova, Indswift Labs, Natco, NC Labs and New Labs.

The event, which is scheduled to be held at the Hotel ITC Windsor Sheraton & Towers, will have 110 research and development scientists from the pharmaceutical and biotechnology space to congregate in Bangalore representing companies from across the country.

The organisers of the event- Marcus Evans stated that there would be a cross section of industries, which have a strong research and development division to participate at the meet. The companies include Eureka Forbes, LG Electronics, 3 M Birla and Mahindra & Mahindra. Around 80 percent of the participation is from the southern states of the country.

The Forum will broadly address issues on the critical success factors for managing R&D in the context of India's growing importance and competitive advantage in the R&D sector. The topics have been designed from Marcus Evans' head office in Malaysia. The selection of the topic is based on the current trends and hence concentration is on innovation, IP related issues, interface between knowledge management & R&D and future of research and development.

According to the organisers Marcus Evans, there are around 1157 registered R&D centres in the country. Being a focussed event, the organisers targeted a representation of around 80 participants and they achieved 110 participants for the R&D Forum. The organisers are still confident that they could expect another 15 to 20 more representatives.

The marketing strategy for the event has been aggressive stated the organisers. There was a dedicated team of 35 sales forces to generate the response and assure participation for the event.
