Mallya Hospital installs Philips cardiac CT 64 and flat panel cath lab

Mallya Hospital has installed a Philips Cardiac CT 64 and Philips flat panel cath lab to facilitate faster diagnosis for patents. The hospital has invested Rs 6 crore for the installation.

Cardiac CT 64 is a quick and non invasive system which helps to visualize the disease on cardiac catherisation in just a few minutes. The cost of the procedure is Rs 7,500.

The lab was formally inaugurated by the Karnataka health and family welfare minister R Ashok. Dr Vijay Mallya chairman UB Group who had established the hospital in 1990 in memory of his grandfather Lt Col BG Mallya stated that the lab would allow the medical centre to focus on cardiac care which it already is a prime area of service.

The 200-bed hospital is a multi specialty centre and is located in the heart of the city. It offers health care round the clock with 24 hours emergency services available for accident & emergencies, laboratory, radiology, CT scan, ambulances and pharmacy. It is equipped with advanced diagnostic & treatment facilities and offers health checkup.

The hospital has so far successfully performed several bypass surgeries, double valve replacements and a number of open and closed cardiac surgeries. The radiology department is well equipped with new spiral CT, ultrasound, mammography and a state-of-art MRI run by a group of committed professionals. The department of paediatrics has a neonatal intensive care unit. It also provides cancer care and has undertaken several successful renal transplants.

There is a burns unit too which is a part of the emergency and trauma. The intensive care is separated into several areas -one area namely the CCU serves only patients with heart ailments, the ICCU for post operative cardiac patients and, the third area i.e., the ICU handles all other critically ill patients.

In the wake of the medical tourism boom, the hospital has also been receiving many foreign patients for treatment and surgeries.
